Anna Thomson

Nutritional Therapist & Health Coach

Anna Thomson: Registered Nutritional Therapist and Health Coach specialising in disordered and selective eating.

Hi, I’m Anna. I support individuals who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or distressed around food to find a more nourishing relationship with eating, and with themselves.

If food feels complicated, whether that’s emotional eating, bingeing, restriction, or you’re supporting a child who struggles with eating, I can help you cut through the noise and find a realistic, supportive, and sustainable way forward.

Approach:

Working with me is collaborative, practical, and gently paced. I take time to understand your unique situation and help you make meaningful changes that fit in your life.

My work is grounded in a non-diet, weight-inclusive approach, supporting you, or your child, to move away from shame, guilt, and rigid rules, and towards a more trusting and confident relationship with food. Together, we focus on building skills that last, so eating feels less stressful and more intuitive over time.

I draw on Mindful Eating and Intuitive Eating alongside specialist training in eating disorders, emotional eating, ARFID, and neurodiversity. My approach is trauma- informed, recognising that change happens most effectively when you feel safe, supported, and understood.
I can help if you are:
Sessions are practical and focused, with clear, realistic steps to support progress between appointments. I aim to help you feel more at ease with food, your body, and your choices.

I am the founder of Nourishing Families CIC, delivering evidence-based workshops and programmes in schools and community settings. I was the Nutrition for Wellbeing Lead at the National Centre for Integrative Medicine for three years, and currently practise as a Nutritional Therapist for Wellness Cloud, an employee wellbeing platform.

Qualifications:

I am a full member of BANT, the professional body for nutritional therapy, and am registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).

Testimonials

Before working with Anna, I was struggled with disordered eating and understanding nutrition. Together we focused on, mindful techniques, gently challenging food fears, widening food options to create a more nutritious balance and body image. The work we did together has greatly widened my knowledge and supported my mental health- I couldn’t recommend her enough!

The sessions with Anna so far have already been incredibly helpful. Rather than focusing on my usual restrictive dieting, Anna has helped me recognise my eating patterns, build healthier habits, and put practical systems in place that genuinely fit into real life.

I’ve already noticed positive changes in my mindset and behaviour, and I feel much more in control, organised and optimistic about making long-term healthy changes. Anna is supportive, encouraging, knowledgeable and very easy to talk to. I’ve come away from both sessions feeling motivated rather than judged or overwhelmed. I’d highly recommend Anna to anyone wanting to build healthier habits in a balanced and sustainable way.

I worked with Anna as part of a journey to transform the way I thought and felt about food, and to make positive additions to my diet. She really listened to what I liked and how I like to cook and worked with that. We challenged some long-held feelings, and I also had fun along the way. I really can’t recommend her highly enough!

We met Anna online for only a handful of sessions over a couple of months but despite this noticed a big difference in our son's behaviour/approach to food. She took a really thorough history, allayed a lot of our concerns, came up with very practical suggestions, and followed-up our meetings with comprehensive notes and feedback. Can definitely recommend. Thanks Anna!
